Sudden Mischief (Spenser) by Robert B. Parker was the next book in the series that came into the library. For some reason, I reserved the book before this in the series and it took over a week longer to get to the library. I decided that I better start reading this one and hope that they didn't mention anything from the last book and luckily, I was spared. I finished it in a short few days making it my last book for January that I read!!!
Susan, Spenser's long time girlfriend, asked him to take a case for her ex-husband, Brad. Spenser was supposed to look into charges of sexual harassment and find out what was going on. In doing so, he uncovered a lot of other things that Brad was up to including embezzlement and fraud. All of the digging into Brad's business uncovered more problems and Brad disappeared with two dead bodies in his wake. The police didn't know if he killed one of both of the people but they were looking for him. At the same time, there were multiple attempts on Spenser's life while he was still trying to free Brad from the sexual harassment charges. Luckily, Spenser got those charges dropped before Brad came back to town but that was the only good news for Brad. Check out this book and see what happens!!
I highly recommend this book and all the other Robert Parker books. I hope that you take the chance to pick up one at your local library or bookstore. They are really fast reads because they are hard to put down but I am always happy to be reading them and seeing what is coming next in the story. I hope that you check one out soon!!!
