Robert B. Parker's Grudge Match Book Review

I got Robert B. Parker's Grudge Match (Sunny Randall) by Mike Lupica on my reserve shelf and then didn't read it for ages.  I knew that I had to finish it because it was due back at the library.  I was super glad to pick up the book and enjoy it before it was returned to the library.  It is hard to find the time to read right now with virtual school because whenever there is quiet down time, I have things that I need to do around the house.  I am going to try to make more time to read over the next two weeks of vacation.

Robert B. Parker's Grudge Match (Sunny Randall Book 8)

Robert B. Parker's beloved PI Sunny Randall returns on a case that blurs the line between friend and foe...and if Sunny can't tell the difference, the consequences may be deadly.

When Sunny's long-time gangster associate Tony Marcus comes to her for help, Sunny is surprised--after all, she double crossed him on a recent deal, and their relationship is on shakier ground than ever. But the way Tony figures it, Sunny owes him, and Sunny's willing to consider his case if it will clear the slate.

Tony's trusted girlfriend and business partner has vanished, appears to have left in a hurry, and he has no idea why. He just wants to talk to her, he says, but first he needs Sunny to track her down. While Sunny isn't willing to trust his good intentions, the missing woman intrigues her--against all odds, she's risen to a position of power in Tony's criminal enterprise. Sunny can't help but admire her, and if this woman's in a jam, Sunny would like to help.

But when a witness is murdered hours after speaking to Sunny, it's clear there's more at stake than just Tony's love life. Someone--maybe even Tony himself--doesn't want this woman on the loose...and will go to any lengths to make sure she stays silent.

In this book, Sunny gets hired by Tony Marcus who she was working against in all of the past books.  It seems like it would be hard to believe that she took on the case but she always fights for the underdogs and she was set that she was going to take care of the women, Lisa Morneau, that was on the run.  In order to do that, Sunny had to work with Tony to get to the bottom of the mystery.  Sunny ends up making a lot of enemies in the process but she knew that she was going to try her best to help Lisa.  My only question was that I thought that Sunny knew that the therapist was with Spenser, the detective, from a previous book so I feel like I need to check out the series again but still enjoying that the books continue.  I hope that you check out this book and the rest of this series.  It is super fun especially if you have enjoyed the other books by Robert Parker.  I was amazed how well someone else came in and picked up his work and carried through with the same characters.  Although Sunny Randall isn't my favorite series, it is always enjoyable to get to read any Robert Parker book.

I totally forgot to post the menu last week but I had the monthly menu mostly planned except for two days this week.  I quickly pulled together the missing days on the menu and the month is totally planned.  I think that we have a bunch of things at home for the month.  I need to get a few things from the store and I hope that we can make it through without too much shopping this month.  I am hoping that we can stay out of the store and still have yummy meals.  We are mostly out of cereal, ice cream, lettuce and junk food because my family can't stop going through it so I will grab a few things.  Still trying to decide if we were going to get a few more things but the freezer is jam packed (even if filled badly).  I need to work to toast the bread pieces to turn them into bread crumbs and see what else is in there that I can use like pumpkin, bananas and more to make baked goods. Fingers crossed that I make great progress to clean out the freezer because it really needs to be thawed!!
