Chance Book Review

Chance (Spenser) by Robert B. Parker is the 23rd book in the Spenser series.  I can't believe that I have already read 23 books in this series.  There are 38 books in this series so I don't have that many left to go on my list.

Awhile ago, my Dad recommended that I check out this author so I figured that I would (assuming that I wouldn't like him since my Dad and I have way different tastes in books).  Shockingly, I loved the Jesse Stone series and continued into the Spenser series.  I am drawn into reading the next book as soon as I finish the last but I am going to be sad to see the characters gone when I finish the last book.

In this book, Spenser and Hawk team up to try to find a man, Anthony, who is missing from his home. His wife, Shirley, and father in law, Julius hired them to try to find him.  The mystery is complicated by the fact that Julius is a mob boss and Anthony was working for him.  Spenser looks into all of the contacts that he has in Boston to get any information on Anthony but only finds out that he likes to gamble (and is very bad at it).  Following one lead to another, Spenser decides to look for Anthony in Las Vegas.  It turns out that he is there and is with another mob bosses wife.  Trouble happens and there are so many twists and turns.  In the end (as always), Spenser is the great guy who helps everyone make it safely to justice.

I hope that you check out this and all the other Robert Parker novels.  He is a great author with great characters.  Let me know what you think after you check them out!!
