Thrifty Thursday: Back to Basics for Breakfast

Have you ever been so busy that you forget the basics?  I do remember to put one foot in front of the other and how to say the alphabet (mostly because with a three year old you do that a lot) but some other things like baking get put to the back of our minds when we are too busy.

Summer is almost over and I hope to get back into the school year routine and getting lots of baking done during the week and one the weekends.  I have been so busy with potty training, out of town visitors, and enjoying the summer activities that I forgot about some of the basics like making yummy breakfast items.  We ran out of lots of the cereal that we stocked up on and then didn't have any more breakfast foods.  This doesn't mean a trip to the store (even if it is in the budget) because it is much more healthy and fun to make homemade breakfasts!!

Have you looked at the price at buying baked goods at the store?  One package of 4 muffins are over $5 for something you can do for pennies at home.  You get a healthier and better tasting muffin if you are willing to mix up some batter.  Get back to basics and pull out some recipes that you like to make for breakfast.

Do you have any that I have to add to my list???  Please let me know because I am trying to find lots of fun breakfast treats to stretch my family favorites so let me know yours!!

  1. It was 82 degrees at 5:30 AM today so I'm not quite turning on the oven yet. :-/ But I can't wait! I do a lot of egg dishes to freeze like quiche and breakfast burritos, too. I think those cinnamon roll pancakes are calling my name, though!
