I can't believe that we are already into August!!!  It is crazy how fast this summer has gone.  I didn't have a lot of things stocked in the freezer other then tons of chicken broth and bread cubes so I grabbed a little chicken to add some more to the freezer at the end of the month.  I am hoping that I come up with something for the weekend but they have been getting really busy and there are less leftovers in the fridge which we normally eat on the weekends in the summer so I guess I might actually have to come up with meals for the weekends too!!  I do have one gift card for Red Robin from the promotion on Swagbucks $25, a few remaining Panera from teacher gifts maybe $50, Cheesecake Factory gift card from my husband's work $25, Starbucks gift cards $20, and Peets Coffee gift card $2.  We will probably be using a few of them to fill in meals on the weekend without adding anything to the budget.  It is a nice thing to have over the summer for our special meals.

  1. You guys sure like chicken! I was re-watching an episode of "The Strange Calls", a comedy series from Australia, on Netflix last night and there was a storyline about a guy turning into a chicken because he ate so much fried chicken and I thought of you, lol.

How nice that you have all those gift cards, you can treat yourselves and not feel guilty about it!

I was going to do a menu today but I didn't. I have to work on it tomorrow. I was re-reading posts from last year and saw some dishes that I want to make again so it might be as easy as copying one of my August 2015 menus, I'll have to see :)

    1. We do like chicken. We usually do one fried and one grilled during the week and paninis helps me use up both on another day. It is also the lowest priced protein but my husband says that he could eat it every day. Glad you thought of me and if I turn into a chicken, I will let you know!!

I can't wait to get a few gift cards spent and a few less dishes made at home :) We usually don't make it out far away from the house during the week because there are too many other things going on but I am hoping that we can fit in something on the weekend.

I went back to the old calendars to see what other foods we used to eat but it really does matter the season and things on sale. I should look back and see for August what we had for the last few years. Maybe I will pull out the calendars and check out what else I can add because we are really in a rut. Mostly because I have a 7 year old who is really picky so our food is usually geared around part of the meal that he will eat or else I am making two meals which is never fun!! Especially when we have to wash all the dishes :( Can't wait to see what new/old meals you pull out!!
