Looking at making the meal plan was super hard this week for no reason other then it was dark and rainy when I was trying and I kept thinking about winter dishes but it isn't that cold here yet.  Plus the schedule is crazy!!  We have soccer practice on Tuesday, Back to School Night Wednesday and Magic Tree House Book Club Thursday so there isn't a ton of time to make dinner or have dinner in the middle of the week.  That being said, I think that I came up with some easy stuff that I can prep ahead and we can have yummy dinners this week in the limited time we have.  I hope that you have a tasty week!!

  1. I'm surprised that you didn't put tacos on your menu since you got all those great deals on taco shells, seasoning, and refried beans this weekend but maybe you put your plan together before your shopping trip.

I used to read the Magic Tree House series to my kids outloud and then when they started to read, it was one of the first series I made them read outloud to me. How awesome that you guys actually have a MTH Club. Is that at your library?

I'm sending you a few links in case you didn't know about those since I know you like to do extra enrichment activities with your son:

The MTH Teachers Resource Page has links to downloadable projects or activities for each book in the series: http://www.magictreehouse.com/teachers_resource_center#teachers_resource_center

And then there's the MTH passport. Does your son have one? I used to print it for my kids and back then they could take quick online tests about each book when they were done reading them and earn passport stamps that we could print and stick in their passport. That was fun and a good way to make sure the kids understood what was going on in the books. The test were only 3 or 4 questions, if I remember properly. Here is the link to the passport, I'll let you investigate the stamps if you're interested, the info should be on there, somewhere:

    Have a great week, Alison!

    1. I did plan the meals before shopping this week but we used up all the other tasty shells that I bought last month. I know that we will enjoy using up this bunch too but we needed a taco break this week. They are my husband's absolute favorite meal but we don't appreciate them as much when we have them every week. They will be appearing next week though :)

Thanks for the Magic Tree House sites. I found one that was interesting at the library but then I never found it again at home. My son started reading them after last month's book club because I couldn't get him to touch them before then. There were a bunch of kids there and they did games and crafts and he had a blast. We started at book 1 and we are already on book 13. Sadly, this month is for book 19 so we are jumping ahead but I am sure that we will get there for next month and be totally caught up with the series. He is super enjoying them and his friend is going with him this month to the book club so I hope that they have a blast. I will totally check out the websites and see what fun we can have with them!!
