Harris Teeter Weekend Shopping Trip Excitment

I wanted to go to the store and get a bunch of freebies or super cheap things that I knew about but I didn't make it on Saturday as planned so I went Sunday morning.  I am not a fan of going to grocery store when it is super busy on the weekends but I wasn't doing a huge shopping trip so it ended up being fine because I went early.  I wasn't too tired and there wasn't too many people and the shelves were stocked!!!!

I got some great deals with sales, coupons and electronic coupons.  The Old El Paso soft shells were on sale for $2.00 and I used two $0.75 printable coupons which doubled and $0.75 electronic coupon that brought the price to $0.25 for both of $0.12 each.  The Old El Paso taco seasoning (cut off on the right side of the picture) was on sale for $0.75 and I used a $0.25 off coupon so it was $0.25.  The Betty Crocker Potatoes were on sale for $1.00 each with $0.50 electronic coupon and $0.50/2 printable coupon for $0.25 per box.  The Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks (hidden behind the sugar) was on sale for $1.50 each and I used a $0.50 electronic coupon and $0.50/2 printable coupon to get them for $0.75 each.  The Bisquick was on sale for $1.50 and there was a coupon for $0.75 off which doubled and there was a $0.50 electronic coupon so I made money.

Some items were sale and coupons only but still added up to big savings!  The Old El Paso refried beans were on sale for $1 and there was a $0.50 off coupon that doubled to make them free. The Perdue Simply
Smart Chicken tenders were on sale for $2.49 and there was a $0.75 coupon which doubled to make them $0.99 and we love them!  The Charmin was on sale for $5.97 and I used a $0.50 coupon to make it $4.97.  The Quilted Northern was $5.99 less $1.00 coupon for $4.99.  The Sargento String cheese was $3.99 less $0.55 coupon so it was $2.89.

My biggest score of the day was the Yoplait Simply go-gurt because my son only likes on kind and this is the one!  Harris Teeter hasn't been stocking it and it was finally back in the store!!  I was so excited that I almost grabbed all of the ones in the refrigerator.  I ended up settling on 5 boxes.  I used one $0.75 off electronic coupon, two $0.75/2 printable coupons, and one $0.40 coupon which made them $0.59 per box!!!  That means that it is about $0.07 a tube when I put it in my son's lunch box!  Super excited and threw them all in the freezer as soon as I got home.

I grabbed the brownie mix at the sale price of $1.19.  I also got a 6 pack of ramen noodles that were on sale for $1.00.  Super cheap and they are both great to have on hand any time!!

I am going to get $7.25 back in my Savings Star account in addition which is a huge bonus!!  I get $0.75 for the Yoplait yogurt, $0.50 for the Betty Crocker Potatoes, $0.50 for the Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks, $0.75 for the Old El Paso Soft Shells, $0.75 for the Old El Paso Nacho Cheese Shells, $0.50 for Bisquick, $1 for Sargento, and $0.50 for Old El Paso Refried Beans

The biggest bonus was that I needed $0.05 more to get the Domino rebate so I grabbed two of the pourable sugars with a rain check for $0.39 each and they will get me the additional $2 from the Domino's!! I rarely get the rebates where you have to buy lots of the same stuff in a set amount of time so I am super excited to get that one done!!

Total Retail $79.64
Total Savings $55.53
Total OOP $24.11

  1. Dang it, I want double coupons too! I'm so jealous, lol. Seriously, you got some awesome deals! When you say that you used printable and digital coupons at the same time, was one of them a store coupon and the other a manufacturer coupon? Did you have to make several transactions at any of the stores because of the coupons you were using? Publix has digital manufacturer coupons but if I use a paper coupon for the same item as one of the digital coupons that I uploaded, the digital coupon will not deduct. So if I buy 2 items and I have 1 paper coupon for 1 and want to use the digital coupon for the other, I have to do 2 transactions or the digital coupon won't be deducted. Plus, and I'm not sure that is still the case, but when they first introduce the digital coupons, using a paper coupon for an item which also had a digital coupon uploaded would make that digital coupon unavailable for up to 48 hours so I couldn't even do 2 separate transactions back-to-back! It was so annoying that I stopped using the digital coupons altogether, unless they're for a freebie. I still upload them "just in case" (sometimes, if my cashier inputs a paper coupon by hand because they can't get it to scan, the digital coupon ends up being deducted too) but I always try to have paper coupons instead.

I totally want to go to on vacation to NOVA, rent a house, and go grocery shopping at the same stores where you go, hahaha.

    1. The way Publix works is the same way it works at Safeway here but Harris Teeter is my absolute favorite because it doesn't work that way. They changed the electronic coupons a little but they do come off even if you use a coupon so you can stack them. It doesn't always work. Harris Teeter allows 20 coupons to double in one day and all others to be taken at face value. Normal days the coupons only double up $0.99 which means that a $0.75 coupon is worth $1.50 but $1.00 coupon is worth a $1. They also take competitors coupons so that is another big bonus but between the sales and coupons, there are some great deals to be had even on a "normal" sale week. About 10 times a year, they do super doubles or triples where they double coupons up to $2 or triple coupons they normally would double. There are even more deals to be had on those!! If you hit SC or NC (even a few in GA), those would be the closest Harris Teeter to you. My mother in law made it part of the vacation plans to come up and do the grocery shopping here back when she couponed because you can get so much stuff cheap or free especially because you guys get different coupons then we do. You might get a $0.50 off 1 while we get $1 off 2 which means the same thing in FL but not always here. We were able to work together and pull in some pretty impressive hauls!! I can't guarantee that you won't experience culture shock with the traffic, congestion and other things but NOVA is great and you would be able to visit everything in DC too. If you decide to come up, try to make it during super doubles or triples. I know you will be like a kid at Disney!!! Going with me every day for at least a few hours. My mom thinks that I am crazy but you can't question the results! So happy to be couponing again. Wait to you see my trip today even better!!! I want to go back tomorrow but I guess we will see if I have a chance since it is my first day at work and I think that I am working at my son's school after that but maybe while the boys are at soccer :) Sale ends tomorrow.
