Last week, I had it so together that I wrote down two weeks of meals so that I didn't have to go back through the inventory and figure things out when the beginning of the month came up as a surprise. I was excited to see that I had the week mostly figured out with things that I had in the house. I do have to go to the store to get milk, butter and a few other essentials on Monday but most everything in already in the house. Soft food after dentist appointment where they fit me for a crown :( but hoping to have a fast come back. My son is going to visit my sister in law for a little bit over the weekend so who knows what we are going to eat because we will be spending most of the time working at the new house so we might be lucky to eat any actual meals.
Here is hoping that I have enough time to make a loaf of banana bread this week. I was hoping to get one made last week but I didn't have enough time. We have a few blueberry muffins leftover from last week and the brownies are gone (they never last that long) so I hope to make another batch this week. If I can make a little more food then we should have a good week. I hope that you have a good week and a tasty one!!

Isn't it a great feeling when you realize that you don't really have to plan a menu for the week because you had already done it? I'm loving having several weeks planned out although its unanticipated consequence is that I haven't used some produce harvested or bought in the past couple of weeks because it's not on the menu (I shouldn't have bought it!) so now I need to spend some time figuring out if I can freeze it or use it for my lunches this week.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you moving into your new house? And... what? No olive oil spaghetti, this week? *wink*
Have a great week, Alison.
I still haven't gotten the Olive Oil Spaghetti that I have put on the meal plan. After your comment, I went back to the calendar to see how many times it has been crossed through. Last week we ended up having mini shells with sauce. The week before that we had Chicken Kiev with rice and the week before that we ended up with gemili with oven fried eggplant. I think that the last time I got my spaghetti was over a month ago! It is super yummy and easy so it my go to dish but I guess that my husband doesn't like it because whenever it is on the menu, he brings up alternates that would be nice. I guess I should try again next week :) Maybe I will finally get it and be able to use up some of the 10 boxes of spaghetti that I have!!! We will probably end up eating leftovers instead :)
DeleteWhy don't you use spaghetti instead of other noodles in the next pasta dish you want to cook? I almost never use the noodles that are called for in a recipe, I just blindly reach into my pantry and grab the first box that I come across. We usually have 10+ boxes as well. I want to try making my own but they have BOGO sales pretty often and I can usually get them with coupons too (my store lets us use a coupon on the free item but we don't get double coupons here in Florida) so I have gotten them for about 9 cents a box pretty often. Making my own would cost more... and using boxed pasta is way easier too!
DeleteI have used a bunch of different pastas recently because I am trying to use up everything in the cupboard. We have min shells which have been really popular. I also have a few boxes of mini penne and some whole wheat varieties. We need to use up lots of pasta and I am having trouble finding pasta even close to interesting but I am trying :) My stomach doesn't always like red sauce so I often go with butter or olive oil while serving my husband the red sauce so that we can use those up too!!! I really want to make pasta but it is hard to justify the time and cost because most of my pasta was free or nearly free too!!
