The Wedding Party Book Review

I had a long list of books that were on hold for me at the library because I wanted to read them but I had suspended them all because I started reading the Stephanie Plum series so I didn't read a lot of others in the middle.  Now I am working on reading all those books to get rid of my list and this was the first one that I picked to read!  The Wedding Party by Robyn Carr was the first that I picked because I know that regardless of the heavy subject matter, the author has a great writing style that always ends on a good note.  Perfect for a summer read!

Charlene Dugan was divorced and she had vowed to never get married again.  She has been in a five year relationship with Dennis, who had asked her to marry him, but she refused.  Until one day all the of the bad things piled up and she asked him to marry her.  Although she seems happy, her life is starting to get really crazy.  Her daughter, Stephanie, is now living by herself after her boyfriend moves out because he can't take her slovenly living and selfish attitude.  Her police ex-husband, Jake, is hanging around more because of a case that she is helping his with.  Her mother, Peaches, is getting confused and forgetting things which causes lots of disasters and difficult behaviors.  Life is changing and it is not for the better.  Charlene is feeling the pressure because her perfectionist ways are making it hard to control everything going on in her life.  Make sure you pick up the book to see what changes in order to bring things back on track.

I loved the characters and the descriptions in the book.  It seems like this is something that could happen to anyone when you start to read the way the author explains the history and everything going on.  I know that I even though I am not in that same situation that I could really sympathize with the characters.  To me that is the best sign of a great author because you put yourself into the book and really pull for the characters to come out of everything alright!!  I hope that you pick up this and any other Robyn Carr book at your local library or bookstore because you will enjoy the great writing and be sucked into the book immediately.  Let me know if you have a favorite by the author that I need to add to my list!!
