June Mid-Month Budget Update

I have been working really hard to use up things out of the freezer and pantry for the last three months.  Mostly because we are trying to move and I really don't want to have to move all this food.  It might be a little heavy to move a box with 30 jars of spaghetti sauce!!!

I have also been trying to put away a little money to cover some of the summer expenses.  I also sold some stuff online through Craiglist and Facebook while preparing for our yard sale because you can usually make more money through those then a yard sale.  Then, I did a yard sale and between both, I brought in enough money to pay for the pool membership.  Both of these things sold a lot of things so that I won't have to move them too :)  I am working on selling some coupons on ebay too so that I can pay for my son's My Gym class and summer camp (but I probably needed to do another yard sale)!!  We also have a small vacation coming up to the beach so there is a lot more saving to do :)

Here is what I have gotten this month:

CVS $4.41

We had an event at my son's preschool so my husband, son and I went to the CVS across the street which always seems to have stock.  My son was out of vitamins so we had to get more but they discontinued his old one.  My mom and I looked at 5 different CVS stores and couldn't find anything.  There was also a deal on toothpaste which we are totally out of!!  My husband used his card to get the vitamins and his toothpaste and his total was $4.35 because he got an extra coupon for $1 off $3 in oral care which took off extra money!  It was a great trip because we got what we needed and saved $18.27 between our two transactions.

Wegman's $8.24

My son and I went to Wegman's to have a picnic in their eating area because we were outside all morning and it was hot.  After we finished our picnic, we stopped to see if they had my husband's juice on sale and they did so I carried three and my son carried one.  Lucky that was all we could carry because I also didn't bring in reusable bags.

Wegman's $5.17

After coming home from the store, I told my husband that they had ice cream for $2.50 which seemed like a good deal but I couldn't get it because I didn't have a cooler and we had another stop after the store last time so it wouldn't have made it.  We looked at some houses on Sunday and my husband promised my son ice cream since we figured that we could get it from the store way cheaper then going to Baskin' Robbins or Dairy Queen.  I used a coupon to get some sugar cones because I usually buy the other cones and my husband doesn't like them.  We also grabbed some sunscreen which was on sale half off.  There was a safety warning to keep it out of reach of children because it looked like those fruit pouches...I laughed because I saw them last time we were there in the bins by the checkout and I was wondering why they had the fruit pouches by the checkout!!! My son never liked them and he can read so we are safe but I will make sure that no other kid gets a hold of it.

Giant $12.55

I went to get a few things that my husband wanted and spend my monthly credit.  Sadly, it didn't come off again!!  I emailed them and hope to get another gift card for this month.  I am hoping that they get this fixed but I should have $20 in gift cards coming soon.

I found a lot of deals and made up my mind while I was in the store on what I was getting.  I got salad that was on sale for buy one, get one free and used the $1 produce coupons on each to make those a great deal.  I also used a deal to buy the Can't Believe it is Not Butter Spray to get $1 of fresh produce so the corn was only $0.20.  Then if I bought a second Can't Believe It is Not Butter, I got free Giant Eggs (using a Giant coupon that I got in the mail for $0.75 off the butter).  I really needed eggs and they were the same cost as the butter so it seemed like a no brainer!  I used a Del Monte coupon that I printed ages ago to get the pineapple for $2.  I had a coupon for Sargento and needed cheese so happy to put that in the cart.  I needed a little more to get to the $10 limit so I grabbed the oil since we were almost out.

Target $1.07

We were at a outside storytime and it started raining so we decided to go with some other activities so we went to Target to check on the price of milk but it was WAY TOO MUCH!!!  My son spent ages looking at all the toys and then we got one package of his purple bananas which are the only fruit he will eat so we keep buying them.  He has a texture issue with fruit so I figure it better than nothing.  I didn't take a picture of the one package we bought so I am sure you can be creative.

Aldi's $31.66

We drove all the way out to Aldi's to get milk and I tried to think about the other things on my list to get but I think that I went a little overboard.  I must have still been hungry even though we stopped at Wendy's and got chicken nuggets!!  I got some more ice cream and sugar cones for even cheaper than Wegman's and we had almost finished the ice cream with just two nights of desserts.  We needed lettuce, celery, and their Ritz version crackers.  We also added chicken rings and chicken fries because we haven't had any chicken at home so at $4 a bag, it was more then I was expecting to pay.  I also got a jar of organic coconut oil which was all splurge but I have wanted to try using it so it seemed like a great price.

We have gone a little crazy this month with the ice cream but for the most part I have kept things under budget even though higher then the last few months have been.  Here is hoping that the $20 Giant gift cards and $10 Giant credit go far next month!!!  Since we are midway through the month, I think that we have most of the things that we need but we still have a list of deals we are looking out for including Advil, Excedrin, peanut butter, vinegar (I have a rain check at HT), paper towels, and cheese.

Total Retail $115.72
Total Savings $52.62
Total OOP $63.10

How are you doing so far this month???
