I love my reusable cup! I also love iced tea!
Unfortunately my reusable cup was getting discolored and gross from the ice tea. I cleaned the inside every week but was having a heck of a time with the seal on the top and the straw. The seal was an easy solve because I could fit the dish towel in the side and run it around a few times. That took off the ice tea film but the straw was a lot harder. I came up with a solution which was this nifty skewer.
I used a little paper towel and the end of the skewer to push the paper towel through. It may puncture the paper towel but just pull the skewer out and push a little more paper towel in the hole.
I push the paper towel to one end and then turn around and push to the beginning again just in case I didn't get everything on the sides. I push it out the end and you can see all of the brown yuck that came out.
I feel better about the cleanliness and hope this helps you clean up your reusable cups. The summer months are coming and they are best for carrying around your favorite beverage to keep cool! Hope this tip helps you keep your reusable cup and straw super clean (or inspires you to get one and save all those other cups and straws).
Do you use a reusable cup? Do you love them?
