Wild Book Review

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail (Vintage) by Cheryl Strayed was one of the books on the list of books that are going to be made into movies this year.  I think that I already saw an ad for this movie so I was interested to see what the book was about since I didn't know anything about it.  I was waiting to pick it up because I thought that it was going to be a scary book about someone stuck out on a trail trying to make life or death decisions about eating a friend like some of those hiking movies show.  Rest assured that this was nothing like that and I could read it while going to bed and not be too upset about the book.

The book starts with Cheryl loosing her boot off the edge of a cliff and throwing the other one over since one boot is not going to do her any good.  The book goes a little back in time and tells you about how Cheryl decided to make the trip to the PCT and why.  There are so many reasons behind her trip but one thing is very clear that she was not prepared for this challenge because it is very hard to travel by yourself and she hadn't practiced carrying her bag, worn in her boots or opened any of the packages and she was leaving the next morning.  You have to pick up this book to find out all of the adventures and scrapes that she gets herself into in her travels and her previous life.

I loved the book!  There is nothing like making you appreciate your life when you see how hard other people's lives have been.  Through an abusive childhood, to a rural upbringing, and the loss of her mother, Cheryl is dealing with lots of emotional upheaval and trying to decide what she is going to do with her life.  There are so crazy stories that she relives during her trip on the PCT and tries to resolve by the end of her trip.  I couldn't be more happy that I picked up this book and learned
