Weekly Goals 1/5

I can't believe that we are starting on a new year!!  We had a really low key New Year's Eve at home and my husband fell asleep on the couch at 8:45 while we were watching some old TV shows on tape and both working on our computers.  I guess they say that the way you spend New Year's Eve is how you are going to spend the rest of the year.  It looks about right to me :)  Hope that you spent your New Year's exactly how you wanted and had a great week!

Last week:

Family Goals
  • Spend time with family- My husband took some time off work around the holidays so my son and I were just getting used to having him home when he had to go back to work.  We got to have lots of time together as a family.
  • Go to Rainbow Readers at the library- My son and I went and got to hear some stories about bears and hibernation but there were a lot of out of control kids there so it was hard to actually see and here so I am not sure if we will go to that one again because it is a hike to that library and it wasn't really worth it (except it was school break so we were searching for indoor activities that were outside our house).
  • Go to Rocknoceros at the library- My husband and son went to this because I did the morning activity and this was in the afternoon.  I was sad that I wasn't there but with the split shift, we both got a lot of things done at home.
  • Sister in law and brother in law coming for dinner on New Years Eve- They came down with a sickness and didn't end up coming over so my husband ended up falling asleep on the couch at 8:45 and I woke him up at midnight before the ball dropped and said happy new year and went to bed.  You can tell that we are getting old when that sounds like a fine night :)
  • Exchange presents with friends- We went over to our friends house and played games with the kids and exchanged presents.  The kids played so well that we lost track of time and it was well into dinner time when we left there to come home.
  • Ready for school storytime at library- We got lots of yucky snow and the storytime was cancelled.  I was thinking about cancelling because it was a little bit far of a drive with the nasty weather but didn't even have to think about it because I got an e-mail that they weren't going to have it because of the weather....maybe next time.
  • Lakeshore Learning for craft and play (depending on how I feel by the end of the week)- What seemed like a great idea at the beginning of the week changed by the end of the week.  I had an appointment for an oil change so we decided to look at some used cars while were at the car dealership which turned into an all day event because we ended up test driving two used and one new car so we didn't leave there until 2 pm so we went straight to get lunch and then had to turn around and go back to get my car.  Luckily, it all worked out well but that was most of the day for us and we didn't get a lot of other things done.  I know we will go some other weekend soon especially after I get a little break when he goes back to school next week!!!
Personal Goals
  • Cut coupons (from the week before)- I finally cut the coupons on Friday.  I got them all sorted and cut pretty easily because there was only one insert and it was small.  I went through and printed the coupons online and sorted them into the folders so now my coupon basket has all expired coupons gone and lots more room to start the new year.
  • Get coupons on Friday- They didn't have any at either the library or grocery store when my husband went so I was going to check on Saturday but I didn't make it out because I was at the car dealership before they opened.  Should have stopped at the library I passed on the way home but I wasn't thinking about it so I will try to go on Sunday.
  • Shut off computer 6 nights to save energy- I shut off my computer every night and every time we left the house.  I actually had to turn it back on one day because I couldn't figure out where I stuck my cell so I emailed my husband to call me so that I could find it but I actually found it before he saw the email and texted him that I found it.  He said great...found what??  But it took twice as long because the computer was off so it is nice to have the computer on sometimes for the speed but I am trying to be better about keeping it off when it is not in use.
  • Go to Jazzercise (? depending on doctors advice)- Neither doctor told me that I couldn't go but I didn't make it there with everything going on and I don't feel particularly great.  I take the medicine so that my tooth doesn't have it's own heart beat and it makes me sick to my stomach so if it is not one thing, it is another but hoping that the sinus infection will pass but I don't have the root canal scheduled until January 20th so I guess that I will have awhile before I am feeling better so I better get back to exercising even with the sickness.
  • Make reading list for 2014- I started making my reading list and it is scheduled soon.
  • Finish reading Light on Snow- Finished and the review is posted.
  • Start reading One For The Money- Finished and writing review next so it should be up soon.
Home Management Goals
  • Clean dishes, counters and floors at least 5 days of the week- Super excited that it was way easier to clean the kitchen this week with less people (and less things) in the kitchen.  I got everything cleaned and was super happy to see a clean kitchen most of the week.
  • Clean dishes one night and not wait until the morning- We did all the dishes twice this week but there were some bigger things that I pulled out to clean that didn't get done at night like the deep fryer but we did a great job of keeping up now that we finally cleaned out the fridge and all the containers that goes with it.
Blog Goals
  • Post one post everyday (schedule 7 posts so that can spend more time with family) - I didn't have all my posts up when they were supposed to be because the week was a lot of playing catch up from having family here all week.  I didn't have a lot of things scheduled ahead so I did get a little caught up but I finally did get them all up.
  • Write End of the month reviews of budget, reading and cooking- I got them all written and posted but the cooking one took a lot of time because I guess I didn't get most of the information in as it happened this month so I had to back track and made sure that I got all the recipes and posts up.
  • Review book reviews completed during the week (if done)- Done
  • Work on a few posts to work ahead for the coming week- I got a few things done but not nearly enough to be ready for the week.  Good news is that I have a little time this week when my son goes back to school so hopefully I will get a little bit done.
  • Post Sunday Weekly Goals, Menu Plan Monday, Kid Wednesday and Thrifty Thursday Tip- I got them up but the menu plan was written and not scheduled and I didn't know that until the next day so it was a little late...oops!!

  1. Great list of goals! I hope your tooth feels better soon... :( I feel for you, tooth pain is not fun at all!! I hate waking up to a dirty kitchen so I always try to clean it in the evening, but it doesn't always stay that way if my 19 yr. old son gets hungry through the night.. lol!

    1. My dentist is going to get in tomorrow so I am crossing my fingers that things are going to get better soon. I ran the dishwasher, emptied it and filled it again. Sometimes it just gets overwhelming but I got it all cleaned up this morning so this week should be a little better.
