October Budget Review

I feel like this month went by faster then others but I missed a few sales that I wanted to get back to but didn't make it but I felt like I got a lot this month and then it was over.  I was going to use a few rain checks and get my whole chickens and a few other things while stocking up on the half price vinegar at Harris Teeter so that I could use a coupon to get off the total because I don't ever have a total big enough to use it.  I was way under my $160 monthly budget but all of my trips are pictured below so you can see what I got.

I posted my first half of the month review here.  If you are interested in getting more detail, this gives you some of the information of how I got to that total for the first half of the shopping trips.  The second half of the month was slightly less eventful until super doubles started!!  There are a few more details at the top of each picture so that you understand what I got and how I got the total for my transaction.

Target $4.14

Giant $0.38

CVS $8.99

Harris Teeter $3.34

Harris Teeter $4.16

Giant $1.53

Rite Aid $5.45

Giant $1.14

Harris Teeter $6.84

I got the Kraft Cheddar cheese because we were totally out of cheddar cheese which is really a show stopper at our house.  I added on the eggs because I had the coupon for $0.55/2 eggs that was expiring so I decided that it was worth $0.44 each even though we had a lot of eggs.  I also got the yogurt so that I could make some more Greek Yogurt Biscuits.  They were super tasty!!

Giant $0.78

I got a $10 credit on my account so I decided that I was going to go and check out what I could get that we needed in order to add to the stockpile.  I got a lot of things that we wanted and needed for a super low total.

Trader Joes $8.17

I went to Trade Joes to get milk because we were totally out and they have the cheapest price around.  I was going to drive all the way out to Aldi's but I figured that I wasn't doing anything else that way and it changed my whole schedule.  After getting my son, we picked up these three things at the store and headed back to the car.

Harris Teeter $7.66

This is the sale that I wanted to make it back to!!!  I really wanted to get more vinegar, potatoes and tortillas and match it up with a few rain checks to use my $ off $50 purchase.  I don't know what amount it is off but all of the prices were great and I wanted to get a few things and stock up on vinegar at half price.  Sadly, I never made it back :(

Giant $10.30

Giant came out with a deal to use 5 $1 store coupons that was in their flyer.  There were two $1 on anything you wanted, $1 on meat, $1 on frozen and $1 on produce.  I use all the coupons and a few manufacturer coupons to get all this for about $10.  It was a great deal because my husband really wanted the Cran-Grape which was almost $5 on its own.  I also got the Lara Uber bars which will give me another $0.75 back on Saving Star.

Harris Teeter $8.11

I was totally not ready for the first day of Super Doubles except that I cut my coupons and cleaned out my coupon basket.  I didn't know what I was going to get but I used less then the 20 coupons and left with a fairly high total for me but I got two bags of bread flour on the sale price of $1.88 each so that was a huge bargain!!

Harris Teeter $0.57

I went to a different Harris Teeter by where I exercise and it was a little challenging because the customer service person was checking me out and she took it upon herself to change the price of the coupons so that I didn't get the overage for the Advil.  Then, she told me that I couldn't get one of things that I picked out because I had the wrong coupon.  That messed up the whole total because those were my expensive things to bring up the total but I forgot the flour so I was a little sad that I messed that up.  As she was ringing up, I added in the Aquafresh so that I would be in the positive but I paid and got out of the store before she changed her mind.  She already asked someone to reprint my order in the office so that she could go over it.  Not the happiest experience but I got a lot of great things at a great price!

Harris Teeter -$0.06

There was an issue with some of my evic zvr coupons coming off so I went to customer service to get the money back for those and I even got the taxes back so I ended up with $0.06 profit from all these great groceries.

Total Retail Cost $587.04

Total Savings $515.54

Total OOP $71.50

Hope that you had a great month!! I started off the month quickly in November with Super Doubles still going strong so it took me awhile to get this post up because I was busy shopping!!!  I hope that you are starting off with a good month too!

    1. Thanks! I work really hard to get what my family needs and stay under budget. I was searching for a good deal on Cranberry juice for my husband all month and didn't find anything so there was a hole but I just got a few bottles so I am going to cross my fingers and hope that the 4 that I got last the month :)
