I looked at the Giant ad and decided that this was a good week to make it to Giant before the sale ended. Now I just had to figure out how I was going to do it. Should I drag my son with me and try to do it with "help." I just didn't have the energy to fight my way through Giant with a four year old in tow so it was either go at night (already too tired so it wasn't happening) or go while he was in summer camp. Sadly, summer camp is the last day of the sale so there isn't a lot of flexibility if they are out of something but it seemed like the best idea. I already had physical therapy scheduled too so I had to figure out how to do both. Drop him off at camp, run to PT doing exercises first, and then hoping to get back in time to finish a shopping trip. Luckily, I had plenty of time. I even went through some of my coupon basket to get rid of expired coupons.
We decided that we were throwing a BBQ this weekend so my shopping list changed quickly. I got two bags of hot dog rolls and 6 ears of corn on the cob. The lettuce was on sale for $0.99 limit one. I needed to get some margarine since we were running low and they were $0.75. Sadly, one of them is past the date...never thought to look at that while I was at the store so I have to return it. I used the rest of my $10 credit to get some ham lunch meat for my husband.
I am always happy to have that $10 Giant credit from being part of the Giant community (note that this was an invite only program that I got an e-mail about awhile back so make sure that you have your e-mail set up on your Giant bonus card and maybe you will get lucky enough to participate). The sad part for me this month was that I was all out of my gift cards from the previous months so I did spend a little out of pocket to get a few extra packages of ham.
I love making a plan and getting as much stuff as I can for my monthly credit. I was going to getting chicken with it until my plan changed with the BBQ approaching and I didn't think that I would be able to make hot dog rolls with all the other things on my list to do before people came. I am glad that I had the credit so that I didn't have to use much money out of this month's budget to plan a BBQ. I used stuff that I already had at home in the pantry, freezer and added a few things from this trip to the store!! Super fun and frugal party with friends all bringing a little something to share with just one quick trip to the store.
