Kid Reading: Eric Carle Book series

I was at the library and there was a huge board book section.  I decided to see if there were any good books that my little man would like reading to himself.  These Eric Carle books seemed perfect.  They are about numbers, motion, animal sounds and words.

The books have two flaps on the pages.  The one has the word and the other has the picture.  The kids get to flip and match the pictures with the words.  My son went through the whole book and found it very entertaining.  He would read the word and look at the picture and laugh when they didn't match.  He found the right page and went on to the next picture.  However, sometimes in the middle of the book he switched to the words and matching with the pictures.  At the end, he realized that he missed one and he went back and matched it.

It is a great reading or pre-reading book because the words are spelled out and you can do the books with them.  It is a great activity to do with the kids on a summer day when you have already spent all the outside time that a mom can take (or a great rainy day activity).  Check them out at your local library or bookstore to see what you think!!
