Virgin River Book Review

Virgin River (Virgin River, Book 1) by Robyn Carr was the first in the Virgin River Series.  I decided that would be a great next series to start on after finishing the Grace Valley series.  I was right because the great part is that this incorporated the characters from Grace Valley right where I left of in the other books!!

The book started with Mel, a nurse practictioner and midwife, leaving the big city and driving her small foreign car into a country town and getting stuck on the side of the road.  She had decided that she was going to leave the life she knew after her husband was murdered to start anew.

She was unprepared for the rural doctoring and living that she encountered.  Her cabin was not clean or livable and the doctor in the town said that he didn't want any help.  Mel decided that she was going to leave and move to her sister's house in Colorado but decided to stay for a few more days when a baby was left on the door step of the doctors office.  The few more days turned into a few more to do the delivery for a pregnant woman.  Her best friend, Jack, was trying to show her all the great parts of the country life by taking her fly fishing, watching the bears, going to the coast to see the whales and dolphins, and the beautiful quiet countryside.

Her friendship with Jack grew to much more (warning that there were very descriptive encounters between them).  After awhile, she decided that this was her home and she would sell her car and buy a big Hummer to use as an ambulance.  There were a lot of other surprises through the book including guns, knives, and special deliveries but I don't want to spoil the book for you.  She was part of the town and the town was part of her.

I hope that you check out his book after you read the Grace Valley series.  It is a wonderful book with more great characters and I can't wait to read the next in the series!!!  Let me know if you have read any books by this author and what you think :)
