Free Day Shopping Trip

After dropping my little guy at preschool, I was driving out to Aldi's and I passed a Harris Teeter on the way.  It was the Harris Teeter that had the Cinnamon Jacks during super doubles so I couldn't pass up stopping.  I had my rain check and my three coupons ready to run in and grab them.  I even brought my reusable bag.

Score!!  Shelf was full so I grabbed my three and noticed that they were still on sale.  I double checked the end date of the sale and it was not until March!  Headed to the check out before I was tempted by anything else to check out.  I gave the cashier my VIC card and the Cinnamon Jacks with my reusable bag while stuffing the rain check back in my pocket.  She rang it all up and rang through my coupons when I realized that I forgot my wallet in the car.  Umm, can you say embarassed!!  The lady behind me volunteered to pay for my groceries but I told her that my car was really close.  I ran out and grabbed my wallet and was super glad that I didn't have my son and the store was not busy!

My evic coupon didn't come off so I had to stand at customer service while they searched the computer.  She gave me back $1.03 after scanning my item into the computer to add it to the coupon.

Back in the car with my three boxes of cereal and looking at the receipt to figure out the final total OOP.  Boy was I happy!!!

Total OOP $0.84
Total Savings $11.23

On to Aldi's for the meat special!!  I had my envelope of cash from our Craigslist sale of my husband's desk so that I could pay cash for the chicken and then deposit the rest in the bank which is in the same parking lot.  I grabbed a container of oil because we were totally out.  I know that I could do without for a little bit but life is always easier when you have your normal ingredients on hand.  Then I grabbed six packages of chicken and walked as quickly as I could to the cash register.  There was a husband and wife team in front of me.  One was putting the stuff on the belt and the other was bagging.  He moved all his stuff so that I could fit mine on!  I was so glad that they had a ton left so that I wouldn't have to wait and see when the next sale was and I could clean and bag all this chicken before we had company.

Total OOP $52.12
Total Savings ????

Big shopping trip done and back home to unpack before picking up my little man and going to all of our afternoon activities.  Lots of work ahead cutting chicken that I am not looking forward to but it will all be worth it in the end.
