January Budget Review

I was expecting a very costly month this month to stock up on meat and other necessary items but it didn't turn out as high as I expected.  I got a lot at the beginning of the month with Super Doubles at Harris Teeter through about a million trips...okay maybe not that many but it felt like it.  I did have a few small trips to other stores including CVS, Walmart, and Giant.  Those trips didn't amount to very much in the overall budget.

Then, the end of the month hit and I realized that I hadn't spent that much and I went wild!!!  I hit Harris Teeter and got some of their sale items even though it wasn't super low priced.  In one day, I went to Aldi's, Wegman's and Walmart.  The total just about doubled in the last few days of the month but the great thing is that I got a bunch of chicken- boneless and split breast.  I did want to get a little more but I didn't have a big choice because I wasn't even expecting an Aldi's run because I found a new store out in Chantilly!!!  They have only been open a month and they still had the Wednesday meat special in stock.  I so wish that I had a big wad of cash with me so that I could have bought all the chicken that was left in stock.

Total OOP $133.58
Total Savings $571.93

I have already put together the list of things that I need to get in February so I guess I still have some shopping left to do.  Sadly, I didn't get back to Aldi's or Harris Teeter before the sale ended.  I sat on the couch and thought about it but just decided that the week was plenty busy enough and I should have gotten what I needed the first trip.  Oh well!!!  The month ended up still lower than budget so I accomplished a lot.
