Weekly Goals 1/13

This was a tough week with the end of super doubles on Tuesday and my husband getting sick on Wednesday.  It was a long and busy week!!  Plus my own challenges with my teeth and foot bringing down my helping skills.  We are hoping for a happier and healthier week next week!!  I hope that your family is avoiding this horrible sickness and everyone is happy and healthy at your house.

This Week:

Family Goals
  • Spend time with my family including the Seahawks game this Sunday- Go Seahawks!!  My husband was happy because we had steak, baked potatoes and the Seahawks won.  We had a busy weekend but got to spend a lot of time with each other.
  • Get to preschool on time- We have gotten to school without problems this week.
  • Hats and Mittens Storytime at the library-  We got to go to a new library today which was really fun.  I think that I need to look at a list of all of the local libraries and take on the mission of seeing them all.  The storytime was okay.  They had an activity afterwards which was fun with puffy snowman stickers, crayons and colored pencils.  They also had a rug with roads on it so we had to get a few cars from the car to test it out.  We also got to play with some neat ipads that they had out for the kids!!
  • Playdate with a friend for lunch- We went over to our friends house and had a great time!!  They were both so sad when it was time to leave.
  • Toddler Time Storytime at the library- We got to hear some great stories and do some fun activities including playing instruments, making snowman, drawing with chalk, and so much more.
  • Little Man's Birthday PartyI don't know why I didn't list this in what we were doing this week but I normally do parties on Sunday so I might have convinced myself that it wasn't this week... well, we had a great time and luckily just in time for everyone to be healthier.  It was an exhausting day for a very excited almost 4 year old.
Personal Goals
  • Cut coupons- This has been a challenge.  I got the three SS inserts cut by Tuesday and I cut the two RP inserts on Thursday.  I had to get everything cleaned up quickly before company and birthday parties so it was easier to get it all done instead of moving them :)  At least that is what I told myself but I did get some help sorting the papers from my son!!
  • Get coupons at library on Friday- I actually didn't make it back to the library on Friday but I saw a self serve metal box (you know the ones that hold the papers) so I pulled over and grabbed some papers.  Not the normal number that I get but it saved me a trip so it seemed like a good idea, especially since I knew that I wouldn't have a lot of extra time on Saturday morning in case the library didn't have them stocked on Friday afternoon.
  • Shut off computer 6 nights to save energy- I shut off my computer every night.  The one night it was doing updates so it was still on when I left it but it was off in the morning.  My laptop is so much happier without running all day and night :)
  • Finish Paper Doll (Spenser) by Robert B. Parker- I finished it and started on the next book in the series which was finished before the end of the week.  Both book reviews are scheduled for next week.  Finished the next book, Shop Girl and review will come up soon.  I started reading a cookbook which is really fun with lots of stories.  I can't believe how much I have read this week!!!  It shows you how little sleep I have been getting between the pain in my foot, my mouth and the sickness that my little guy and husband shared back and forth.
  • Dentist appointment- Finished by only barely!  I am getting sick of all this dental work and I hope that we are close to done and they don't find anything else.  My whole mouth is ripped up because they were working on the back teeth.  Starting to really dislike the dentist and run out of Advil :(
  • Foot Doctor appointment- Done!  Barely made it there.  In the morning before school, I put together my chicken tortilla soup.  I rushed home to make mac and cheese.  Then, I went to the doctor and came home to make cupcakes...only to find out that I didn't have enough oil!!  Ran to the store and then back home again.  Of well, such is life when there are too many things to do.
Home Management Goals
  • Clean dishes, counters and floors at least 5 days of the week- As always, this is the fight of the week.  We seem to make a really serious mess in the kitchen (especially when I am baking).  I kept it as clean and I could to try to stop the sicknesses but taking care of two kids...I mean, my husband and my son.
  • Clean dishes one night and not wait until the morning- I washed them once during the week which I really can't remember which night because the week is a blur.  Then I got them all washed on Friday night to try to get ready for the party on Saturday.  I normally choose Sunday for parties because it gives me an extra day to prepare but this is going to be as good as it gets because I was super busy and fighting to fit in everything that I had to do.
Blog Goals
  • Post one post everyday- Done
  • Schedule at least 7 posts so that can spend more time with family- Done
  • Review book reviews completed during the week (if done)- Posted both Robert Parker novels and Shop Girl and the cookbook should be up soon.
  • Work on a few posts to work ahead for the coming week- I got a lot of posts up last week and worked forward to get posts up to the middle of the month.

    1. Hi, Alison! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. Scones are super easy to make and a wonderful breakfast treat that can be had in about 35 minutes (I'm munching one right now...). Here is my favorite recipe:
      The Best Scones
      2 c flour 3tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt
      2 T sugar 1/4 c butter 3/4 c milk
      1 beaten egg
      preheat oven to 400 degrees
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Mix in milk and egg. On floured board, pat into a 1" circle, transfer to baking sheet. Cut into 8 wedges, but don't separate. Bake 25 minutes. Serve with butter, jam, clotted cream or just plain. You'll never buy a mix again. Enjoy!
