I didn't start this morning off early but I finally left before lunch to get my paper and run my errands. First stop was CVS. This was a huge confusion for me because the ad was horrible and there was nothing on sale that I needed. I was going to get the newspaper but I only had two ECBS- one was $3 and one was $4. The paper was $2 so I needed either $1 or $2 more dollars of stuff to use my "free" money. I figured that I would find something or pick up something from the $1 food section. My cart was driven by power beyond my control to the deodorant aisle where they had a clearance sale on my husbands favorite deodorant which I just printed a coupon. Fate- I think so!!! The sign said 50% off so it was $2.49. I price scanned it and it was $1.24!!! How exciting!! Then I saw the sign that said $2 ECBs with the purchase of two and there was a limit of 2 per household. I almost cheered in the aisle while putting four in my cart. I used my $4 ECB and two $1 coupons and the final OOP was $1.11 for everything below. After my receipt printed, I saw my $1 ECB for my green bag tag and $2 for the Right Guard but I should have gotten another $2 for the Right Guard. The cashier printed it all out right there but the computer was a little crazy so he printed two $1 ECBs which is even better. I now have three $1, one $2, and one $3 for a total of $8 for upcoming weeks. A very sucessful trip especially since I was going to skip CVS today all together!!
I went across the street to Giant next because I was planning on buying cranberry juice. They had a deal where you buy two cranberry juices and you get the new Ocean Spray Cran Cherry for free but there was no . Ocean Spray had a coupon on their website for buy one cranberry juice and get one free Cran Cherry. I picked up one Cran Grape and two Cran Cherry. I went to the self scan station to get a scanner even though I wasn't getting anything else (in case you don't know what this is, my Giant put in a scanner just like the price checker but you carry it through the store and scan your stuff). I scanned the cran grape first and it gave me a $0.50 discount for using the self scanner :) The total after sale and coupon was $2.11. Then the cashier took off my recycled bag credit and the free juice credit went away! Ugh!!! She removed the bag credit and thankfully I was paying in cash so she just asked for $2 cash. What a great price for 3 juices. I am totally going to try to get another coupon and go back tomorrow to get more!!! On the way out, I also found the free local paper that had the coupon inserts so I got three copies!!!! Additional happy bonus!!!
Then I went to Harris Teeter, I had an evic promotion for eggs. I bought a dozen eggs on sale for $1.59 when I was at the store on Wednesday. My Friday baking (8 eggs) and rest of the weekend cooking (caused me to use all but one egg so I needed more. I got the e-mail that I could get a dozen eggs (limit 2) for $0.99. I was so excited that I had to run out and get them so it was $1.99 for two dozen eggs. So now I get to start baking again!!
My total for the day was $5.10 with a total saving of $33.02. That is 86.6 % savings. Regardless of savings, I had happy cashiers, good coupons, and great deals to make for a great day. I realize that wasn't the whole week but I got a quick start on a good week. Here is crossing my fingers to a great week of sales for Harris Teeter and Safeway starting on Wednesday and Giant on Friday :) I don't have my full amount available this week because I did hit Target on Saturday night and spent $7.07 so I was $7.79 over last weeks $40 goal. I have $27.11 left for the week to try to keep on track for the month. I don't know what is on the list for the week but I guess only time will tell :)
