I grabbed bread and buttered the side. Since I use my homemade bread which is usually lopsided in some way, I try to put the bread next to the one that it is going to go on top of so that they line up and I butter the right side so half the sandwich doesn't flop out. Not a problem for those using store bought bread because it almost always lines up right with any side.
I put the first piece butter done on the griddle while it is heating up.
Then, I added the strips of mozzarella cheese and the pepperoni. My husband is the one with lots of pepperoni and mine is in the front with less because I don't like it too spicy.
I added the top that was already buttered to each to make two complete sandwiches. I was going to make this in the panini press but I decided that I couldn't take the same pictures with it (and I didn't want to clean it). If you have a panini press, feel free to use it because it would be yummy too.
I might have gotten distracted while cooking because this is usually my husband's job to flip. He likes his sandwich a little lighter but this is just how I like mine. I cut them into triangles because they look pretty and are easier to hold but cut as you like to eat them.
The side view shows you all of the yummy goodness that melted inside.
I heated up a bowl of spaghetti sauce and we dipped our yummy sandwiches into the sauce. I would totally make this again!! It was easy and tasty. It gave you all the goodness of the pizza with a lot less work. I hope that you try it out soon and let me know what you think!
