December Budget Review

I actually got my post up for the middle of the month review here.  I was excited because I was a little above $60.  I thought that meant the month was going in the right direction and I would end the month and the year under budget.  I started by returning one item at Harris Teeter so I got a $5.93 credit.  Even better!  Then, I grabbed a few things that I needed at the store and my son decided that we needed a few more things so I spent a little more then I was expecting.

Harris Teeter $17.84

I wanted to get the Honey Nut Cheerios which were on sale for $1.97 and the coupon and the evic zvr coupon.  There was another deal on the Champion tube yogurts for $1.77 and after coupon they were $0.77 each.  Super excited about the Cabot cheese which was on sale and there was a $1/2 coupon because we were totally out of cheese.  My surprise pick up was nearly free sugar because it was on sale for $1.87 and there was a coupon for $0.75 off which doubled so I got it for $0.37 but I only had one coupon so I was bummed.  My son added the Golden Grahams and cranberry juice so the total jumped up a little but still worth the extra money to make him happy that he got what he wanted.

CVS $1.15

I had some ECBs to use up before they expired and I waited all day for my mother in law to get there and she sent me to the store with my mother and sister in law to get the things that she wanted.  I grabbed the things that I needed which was Children's Advil which we go through so quickly here, especially in the winter.  It was $2.67 for the travel size container and then I used one coupon on each one and then all my ECBs so I got all four for less then one bottle.  I love rolling the ECBs to new deals but using them to fill the stockpile is great too!  I did have one other $0.75 ECB which I should have gone back and spent right then because I knew that I wouldn't have a chance to go back but I let it expire :(  I still have it in case someone will override it for me next time.

My mother in law brought the green beans and the zucchini that we needed.  My parents bought some more milk after my mom finished the two gallons in the fridge.  Sadly, she bought the "wrong" kind and my son doesn't like it so I have to go get more milk for him and use up the rest in baking.  We used up lots in the fridge and some in the freezer (mainly making room from the turkey and a chicken).  We are in great need of eggs and milk so we are headed to Aldi's to start off the new year and Harris Teeter Super Doubles!!!  But still excited on how last month ended.

Total Retail $397.17

Total Savings $323.73

Total OOP $73.44

Stay tuned for a post on yearly savings and spending which should be up soon!!!
