Easy Organizer Book Review

The Easy Organizer: 365 Tips for Conquering Clutter by Marilyn Bohn was in the new section at the library so I decided to check it out.  I grabbed it while I was checking out my son's book choices.  I was glad that it was easy to read and started while still in the library.  I went through it pretty quickly without getting any earth shattering ideas on how to make things better or easier.  This short 200 page spiral bound book was a quick read and provided an outline on how to organize all of the parts of your house.

The book was laid out in sections like the following:

Key Organizing Concepts
Time
Entryway and Items that Leave the Home
Collections
Kitchen and Dining Room
Paperwork and Home Office
Living Areas
Children's Toys and Artwork
Bedrooms
Clothing and Accessories
Bathrooms, Linen Closets and Laundry Areas
Crafts and Hobbies
Storage Areas

Each section had numbered ideas of the things that you can do in your house with those areas.  Most of the ideas were providing the standard information like touching papers once, filing papers, and put clutter in organization baskets.  If there is a particular area that you need ideas, feel free to skip to that area and see if there are any helpful tips but the book suggests reading the first chapter before skipping around.

My problem with organization (and I am sure many others) is that I don't have enough room to give everything its place.  We don't have a coat closet, craft room or a play room in our house so following the ideas in those chapters is a little far fetched for how our house is set up.  I have gone through most of our stuff and tried to get more organized but there are many times that things have to be moved to areas that don't make sense because that is the only area with room.  I think that the best advice is check out another book with ideas closer to your problems like limited space.

I am not sure that I would recommend this book but if you are interested in finding out more information, please check it out at your local library or bookstore.  It has a lot of steps and you could check each one off as they are completed.  It would be a great to do list but didn't give me a bunch of new ideas.  Let me know if you have read it what you thought!!  I love to get feedback and hear about others thoughts :)
