Promise Canyon Book Review

Promise Canyon (Virgin River) by Robyn Carr was lucky number 13 in the Virgin River series for me.  I didn't know that when I started but it was a great book which had me reading this page turner quickly trying to learn more about the two new main characters.  It isn't often that the book is mostly about new people so this was an interesting treat and mostly set at the farm and stables of Dr. Nate Jensen and his fiancee Annie who were introduced in an earlier book.

In this novel, Lilly, a native American woman who works for her grandfather delivering animal feed, while leading a lonely life with only one friend, Dane, to keep her company.  Nate and Annie need some help at the ranch and hire an old friend, Clay.  He happens to be very connected to his Navajo tribe and traditions where Lilly has been separated from her culture when she left the reservation when she was 13 years old.  It is everything that she has been avoiding since she left but everything that she really wanted to find.  They encounter problems along the way (since that is the reason books are written) and you need to pick up the book to find out how they work through it.

I know that I am horrible at saying this because all of the books that I just finish are my favorite ones but this one was really good.  I loved all of the Native American information and the horses.  It reminds me of growing up and how I used to ride horses.  It is always something that I missed but I never looked for it again after move out of the area.  I think that I would love to be living in the country with all of the ease of the city life that I have gotten used to.  Anyway, it is a good book with lots of great characters and drama!  I hope that you pick it up and let me know what you think.
