Small Vices Book Review

Small Vices (Spenser) by Robert B. Parker was the next book in the Spenser series which finally came into the library.  I actually had to skip ahead and read the next book in the series.  Luckily, it didn't mention anything about this book so I am going back in time and checking this one out now.

In this novel, Spenser is hired to find out if a person that was convicted of a crime was actually guilty.  During the process, he interviews a lot of people and starts to think that he isn't getting anywhere when four guys show up to his office to beat him up.  Luckily, he was very prepared for this and ran them out of the office quickly.  Later, another man comes to tell him that he is going to kill him while he is out to dinner with Susan, his girlfriend.  That man later shoots him three times before he can go over the bridge and throw himself in the water.  He almost died and was in the hospital for three weeks.  When released, he, Susan and Hawk went to California until he started to get better which was ten months.  They drove home to Boston and started to get back to their lives.  After almost a year, Spenser decided that he was going to finish the case that he was working on and that started with getting the man that had shot him.

This was a really interesting book that was a lot different than the other books that I had read previously by the author.  I love the fact that they can still be surprising and not all the same after so many books.  I hope that you check out this and all the other Robert Parker series at your local library or bookstore.  They are super fun reads with a little bit of mystery and a whole lot of fun.  I think that they are worth reading and you will come to love the characters and look forward to their next adventure.  Let me know when you do read them, which ones are your favorites :)
