Family Honor Book Review

Family Honor (Sunny Randall) by Robert B. Parker is the first book in the Sunny Randall series.  I picked it up while waiting for some of my books to come in at the library.  My mom loaned it to me after she had finished it.  The great thing about having the book on my shelf is that I can pick it up at anytime.  The other great thing that I put all the books that I still had left to read in one place so it was a quick choice off the shelves.  It was a little transition after reading so many Spenser series books to get into the new characters.

In this book, Detective Sunny Randall is working for a rich family who is missing their daughter, Millicent.  Sunny finds Millicent working as a hooker in Boston and fights her pimp to take her.  Sunny refuses to return Millicent to her parents because there is a real reason that she ran away which no one is telling her.  They stay at Sunny's house until two armed men come to take Millicent and Sunny shoots and kills one of them.  They have to hide out at Sunny's friends house to make sure no one else finds them.  The novel has a lot of surprise twists and turns leading to the end of the book with Sunny dealing with her feelings for her ex-husband, Richie.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series and learn more about Sunny and all her friends.  I hope that you pick up this book at your local library and bookstore.  I think that this series is as good as the Jesse Stone and Spenser series (although different).  I hope that you check out each series and see which one is your favorite.  I like to start at the beginning and follow the characters as they grow but feel free to pick up any book and try it out.  I can't wait to hear what you think!!
