I can't believe how quickly October has passed me by. Of course, I seem to say that at the end of most months but this one was a long month and it went by so quickly with so many things to get done. I had lots of things to do around the house, appointments for doctors and dentists, and lots of playdates for the little man. All working their way up to Halloween which might be ruined based on the storm.
Every month, I budget $160 to get groceries and all my household needs. In order to stretch my money, I coupon, shop sales, and go to many different stores. I love to post my deals to inspire others that they can do the same. I promise that I will help anyone that wants to learn because if I can do it, so can you :)
This month, I got deals at Harris Teeter, Giant, and Target over 12 trips. Sadly, we did not get a super doubles or triples at Harris Teeter which is what I was holding part of my budget back for but that was a nice savings to stay below budget this month. And then Super Doubles finally came when I had given up hope on October 31st!!! Lucky Trip number 13 was super doubles. I had a limited time between my son's Halloween parade and performance and picking him up from school so I grabbed everything as quickly as possible (without getting frozen stuff) and headed back to school to grab my little pirate :)
I was going to use the extra money to get chicken and ground beef to stock up for the coming months but with the pending storm, I am super glad that I didn't find the time to get more food to fill the freezer. We are already filled with lots of other things that I am going to have to figure out how to cook if the power goes out again (we only lost it for 4-5 hours Monday night). I am super excited to be through Sandy (the storm) and be ready to plan for the coming months. I hope that everyone else made it through well too!!!
I had a great month below budget.
Total OOP $86.18
Total Savings $284.86
Percentage Savings 77%
With only two months left in the year, I am super happy with my yearly total and monthly average. With a budget of $160 per month, it would equal $1,920 for the year and I came in way below the total.
Total Yearly Spending $1,409.18
Total Monthly Average $140.92
That leaves me with $510.82 for the year and I think that I will be able to stay under budget :) I think that will leave me lots for the last few super doubles of the year and the holiday food shopping.
Hope your year is shaping up just as great!!! If not, the new year is right around the corner!!!
It looks like you are doing awesome. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Some months is feels like I not making a big difference but when you look at the whole picture, I feel like I am doing great!! I am going to go back and see how many months I tracked the savings to see if I can figure out how much I saved but I don't think that I kept track all year because the number is really not real because I never would have spent so much on some of the things that I got!! I hope that you are having a good year too :)
