I got forgot to grab a cart so I was running through the store with only my reusable bag to get all this stuff while talking on the cell phone with my mother in law... I know I looked like a crazy person but I like to multi-task :) I saw the Blue Bonnet Margarine on sale for $0.99 and we are running super low on the margarine sticks for baking so I grabbed two boxes. Then I went straight to the flour (which I almost forgot and then couldn't find on the shelf) and grabbed three. I had to take everything out of the reusable bag and put the flour across the bottom and then laid the butter and the rest of my stuff on top. I grabbed the Honey Nut Cheerios and ran for the check out. I pulled everything out of my bag and laid it on the belt. I helped the cashier shove everything back into the bag since she couldn't get it to fit.
Then came the test! Would the computer really take off everything that it was supposed to? It subtracted $4.29 which I could only assume was the right amount for the flour (later used a calculator and it was correct). Then, I turned over my one coupon for the Honey Nut Cheerios which the cashier rang up. Then, there was a note that it was adding back the $0.50 ecoupon. UGH!!! I pointed it out to the cashier and she clicked a few things and gave me another discount to make up for it. It was great to have a good cashier who helped quickly and I didn't have to leave upset.
Total OOP $6.85Total Savings $9.08
I don't know if I will be rushing out to use the Just 4 U program regularly if it is either ecoupons or manufacturer coupons because Harris Teeter lets you use both and it seems that Safeway does not. I guess the items that have a certain price and not coupons like the flour deal is worth it. Let me know what you think about the program and if you have ever had any success??
