I went to the store first things this morning to see what deals I could get. I didn't see a lot on the lists that I needed but I know that we were in need of a lot of different groceries since it has been ages since I have had a big shopping trip. We are almost out of cereal which is a big deal in this house since we eat it for breakfast and snacks through the day. I decided to pick up the best deals and see how many coupons I had left. I got Smart Balance Milk, Fleishman's Bread Mix, Honey Bunches of Oats (with rain check), Johnsonville Chicken Sausages (with rain check), Bayer Asprin Tomato Paste, and Nivea Lipgloss for free after coupon.
Total spent for everything was $11.37 with a savings noted as $84.96 (the rain checks make the original price disappear so it doesn't account the discount from retail so it would be around $8 more). The total cost of the groceries should have been $104.33 but I only spent $11.37. Using my rusty math skills (and a calculator), I believe that I saved 89%.
The best thing about this is that I got bread, butter and milk which we needed. I also ate one of the soups for lunch :) I can't wait to go back again and get a few more deals since I got home and organized my coupons a little better. I will let you know how it goes :)
