Forever Friday Book Review

Forever Friday: A Novel by Timothy Lewis was a book that I got through Blogging for Books.  I picked it out of the choices available and actually forgot about it before it showed up on my doorstep so I didn't know exactly what I had picked but I was excited when I got it.  I had a bunch of books that I needed to read from the library before they were due so when I finished them, I stopped checking out books from the library until I started this book.  Boy am I glad that I did!!

The book started with Adam Colby in the summer of 2006 while he was doing an estate sale for Gabe and Pearl (Huck) Alexander's home after their death.  Adam found a photo album of old post cards and was instantly hooked.  He say this as the answer to learn what kept the love alive for this couple for so many years when his own marriage just ended.  Through investigating, Adam has met and gotten to know Yevette, the daughter of the Alexander's house keeper, and built a good friendship.

My favorite part of the book is the first time meeting of Huck and Gabe at the market.  Huck went to get some seafood and Gabe saw her from his office and went running down to help her.  Their brief encounter left them both thinking about each other for weeks to come.  The feeling had Huck avoiding the market so that she wouldn't be tempted by someone who was not her finance.  Gabe, on the other hand, was interested in making her his future bride.  With their second encounter, they followed it up with a date all day and not arriving home until 3 am to find her finance sitting on the stairs of her boarding house.  The true colors of her finance were shown and a fight ensued.

There are so many heart racing adventures in this love story that you will have to pick it up to find out what happens between the happy couple and everyone that knows them.  This book was filled with great writing and even better characters.  There wasn't a slow part in the plot because of all of the adventures as well as reading the post cards ever Friday until Gabe's passing.  It is a great love story to make you really appreciate the relationships that you have now.

If you would like to learn more about the author, you should check out his website here.  It gives more information about the book and a link to buy it.  There is even an except of the book if you want to check it out and not take my word for it (or click here for a direct link).  I hope that you check out the excerpt and see how great the writing is so that you pick up the book soon!!

I had a hard time getting into the book at the beginning because I didn't have enough time to sit down and read enough to get to know the characters.  The most confusing part of the book is that it is about the whole life of the main characters including after their death so it goes back and forth to give you the details of their life and if you don't pay attention Huck and Gabe change ages and stages and I started to get a little confused.  Once I sat down and payed attention, I didn't want to stop because it was a riveting story.  I highly recommend taking the time to get into the book before putting it down (so don't start it as you are falling asleep like I did).  I think that you should check out the book and see if you don't fall in love with this love story!!

*I did receive a free advanced copy of this book for my honest review of this book through Blogging for Books at WaterBrook Mulnomah Publishing.  I posted my review on NOVA Frugal Family, on Amazon and Good Reads.  If you would like to see one at the other sites, click on the name and it will take you directly to my review.
