Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Book Review

I borrowed this book from the library because I was interested in reading it but it had no renewals on it...I didn't even start it before it was due for return.  I mentioned to a friend that I did a horrible job getting to read it and and she said that they were just finishing it and they would loan it to me....I again put it on the shelf and didn't read it.  I think that I was avoiding it because it was a play and not a movie but I really wanted to read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2, Special Rehearsal Edition Script by John Tiffany so I figured that I should read it and return it to my friend.  I finished it and went all the way to her house to drop something else off and totally forgot to return it.

This was an interesting book with a different format which at first mention scared me away but the book and all of the things that it covered was a nice addition to the Harry Potter series.  I was thinking that I was going to have trouble with the play format but it was just as easy to read as the normal books even though there wasn't as much because of the spread out format on the pages.  Harry and all his friends were adults and we were meeting their children for the first time.  Harry's son, Albus, and Draco's son, Scorpious, become quick friends and they get into a little bit of trouble.  You have to pick up the book to find out what magically trouble they get into!  I hope that you check this out if you liked all the other Harry Potter books.  They were big favorites before we had our son and we are enjoying sharing them with him as well!!  Let me know what you thought of the book!!

Sunday- Little Caesar's Pizza or Leftovers

We finally have a little bit of break between basketball and soccer so we might have a few weekend free but of course that means birthday party time.  We have birthday party on Sunday which goes right up until dinner so I guess we will figure it out but I feel that we will most likely end up with a takeout pizza.  My basic plans for the meals over the weekend including Breakfast, Meatball Sliders, Pizza Bites or leftovers for this weekend.  I might have some for lunch and others for dinner but it will depend on how much time I have for preparation each weekend.  Last minute change for Thursday night because we ended up having that chicken over the weekend!!  I hope that you have a tasty week.

Sick Day Activities

My son woke up one morning last week and decided that he was sick.  I wasn't sure about it until I took his temperature and it was 101.5 degrees.  UGH!  I thought that we were almost done with the sickness but we did a bath and Advil and he felt instantly better but we stayed home from school and I got a sub.

I was trying to make the most of the day so I did a load of darks, ran a load in the dishwasher, and made cinnamon rolls while taking care of my son at the same time.  By then I was exhausted!

I sat down and wrote at least 10-12 posts because I was really far behind on blogging (and I was avoiding washing the dishes)!  I got lots of posts scheduled so that I won't be behind for the upcoming month.  I am really excited to say that I have accomplished a lot on my blog.

I got some toast into my son and a little cereal but not much else and I even offered him Doritos or anything else that he wanted including hot out of the oven cinnamon rolls (which I ate some for myself).  We both took a much needed nap really late in the afternoon.  After trying to stay asleep, I realized that I hurt my finger way more then I thought I did when I jammed it on the dryer.  I iced it down with an ice pack a few times but I think that I messed it up really good.  The whole finger is really swollen and is throbbing but hoping I didn't break it!  UGH!!  See what happens when I try to be productive!  Totally not worth it.

Resting went up to dinnertime when I got up to get my husband's yummy birthday dinner ready for him to put the finishing touches on.  We got to have Omaha Steaks (Thanks Lynn and Drew) and mashed potatoes while my little man slept on the couch.  We gave him some medicine and then carried him to bed.  He sweat through his clothes so my husband changed him and he slept for a little bit and woke up.  He sweat through his clothes again so we changed him again and gave him some toast and more medicine and he was asleep in under 30 minutes from the time he woke up.  It is tough having a sick little man because he just doesn't know what to do about it.  Here is hoping that it is the end of the sicknesses here but we are taking shifts tomorrow so that we can both make it to work for part of the day and the little man can rest through the weekend if he needs to.

Foul Play Book Review

I got a bunch of books out of the library and Foul Play by Janet Evanovich was next in the pile.  I started reading it and couldn't put it down.  There was lots of action and adventure in this book as well as the usual humor.  I find these books to be quick reads and highly entertaining to read.

When Amy Klasse loses her TV job to a dancing chicken, handsome veterinarian Jake Elliott rescues her with an offer to be his receptionist. Jake just can't resist a damsel in distress, and Amy certainly doesn't mind Jake's charming sincerity.  Then suddenly the job-stealing chicken disappears and Amy is suspected of foul play. Amy and Jake search for clues to prove her innocence. But will Jake be able to prove to Amy that love, too, is a mystery worth solving?

I laughed my way through this strange story of Amy who looses her job to a rooster.  She has a horrible day with many accidents after getting fired which draws the attention of the local vet, Jake, and she is offered a job to work for him as a receptionist.  Jake doesn't think that he needs a receptionist but he knows that he can't let Amy get away from him.  They were quickly in both of their lives because the rooster ends up sick and in the vet clinic.  They have lots of ups and downs in their relationship and try to build a relationship together.  There are so many funny things that happen through this book but you have to pick up the book to find out what happens.  I hope that you check out this book and others in this amusing series.  My only disappointment that we can't have some more of the same characters because all the books are about different characters.  I hope that you enjoy this funny quick read.

Home to Paradise Book Review

I was excited to get an opportunity to read Home to Paradise: The Coming Home Series _ Book 3 by Barbara Cameron.  The book was the third in the series but sounded really interesting even though I hadn't read the other books in the series.  I wanted to see what it was all about and check out this new to me author.

Rose Anna Zook has watched her two older sisters marry two Stoltzfus men and has always thought she and John, the third Stoltzfus brother, would marry, make a home together, and have children. But John has other ideas. He’s enjoying his Rumschpringe in the Englisch world a little too much and isn’t interested in returning to the Amish community—especially to marry.

Rose Anna is determined to bring her man back into the Amish fold. John is equally determined to live his life free and unencumbered. Who will win this battle of wills? Will love prevail?

I was excited to read all about the families involved in this book and it had me questioning whether I have read the other books in the series...I am still not sure that I haven't read the early books.  This book had Rose Ann Zook trying to find her happiness in her life.  Her older two sisters are happily married to brothers while Rose Ann wants to be married with kids.  The only person that she has ever loved is out enjoying his Rumschpringe running around time so she has decided to trap and trick him into marriage.  It is comical that she thinks that she can do this and so crazy with the plans that she comes with to convince him that he is ready to return to the Amish faith.  I know that you will be entertained by these interesting escapades.  I hope that you check out this book and see for yourself.

Love In A Nutshell Book Review

I have been on a mission to read the books on my shelf that I got from different places for free.  One of the books was The Husband List by Janet Evanovich but it looked like this book came first so I quickly put it on reserve at the library.  Love in a Nutshell: A Novel by Dorien Kelly came in to the library and I was quick to pick it up and read it.

Kate Appleton needs a job. Her husband has left her, she's been fired from her position as a magazine editor, and the only place she wants to go is to her parents' summer house, The Nutshell, in Keene's Harbor, Michigan. Kate's plan is to turn The Nutshell into a Bed and Breakfast. Problem is, she needs cash, and the only job she can land is less than savory.  Matt Culhane wants Kate to spy on his brewery employees. Someone has been sabotaging his company, and Kate is just new enough in town that she can insert herself into Culhane's business and snoop around for him. If Kate finds the culprit, Matt will pay her a $20,000 bonus. Needless to say, Kate is highly motivated. But several problems present themselves. Kate despises beer. No one seems to trust her. And she is falling hard for her boss.  Can these two smoke out a saboteur, save Kate's family home, and keep a killer from closing in…all while resisting their undeniable attraction to one another? Filled with humor, heart, and loveable characters, Love in a Nutshell is delicious fun.

I thought that this would be good because it comes before one of the other books that I have to read on my shelf.  I wasn't let down by the funny antics that Kate Appleton is involved in while trying to redo her family vacation home to bed and breakfast.  She comes upon many hurdles including the lack of money and loosing her job.  She talks herself into a new job at Matt Culhane's brewery.  Kate is working to help around the brewery while trying to take down the person who is sabotaging the brewery so that she has enough money to pay her bills.  Of course there are many complications along the way and you have to pick up the book to find out what happens because you will be amazed by the bees, fire and much more.  I hope that you check out this book and the others in the series because I think that you will be entertained!

Manhunt Book Review

The next book in my pile was Manhunt by Janet Evanovich which was the next book in the Janet Evanovich series that I was reading.  These were quick short reads which were very entertaining.

A woman with a talent for numbers, Alexandra Scott wanted to escape the rat race and go someplace where the men outnumber the women. Trading in her Wall Street job and fancy condo for a rundown cabin in the woods. She's now Alaskan Wilderness Woman. It isn't long before she finds exactly what she's looking for: one sexy pilot named Michael Casey. But this confirmed bachelor has no intentions of getting caught in any woman's crosshairs—especially a hunter as appealing as Alex. It'll take skill, determination, and a little romantic persuasion for this big-game hunter to bag her prey.

I really like the Alaskan wilderness so this book was a great treat.  I enjoyed the funny adventures that Alexandra Scott got into while trying to make her way in the new Alaskan home.  She realized that leaving the metropolitan area of New York City was a big change to the wilderness that she found herself trying to make her new life in a cabin with no electricity or running water.  She meets her neighbor, Michael Casey, who is immediately pulled into the life of his neighbor even though he is set on being a bachelor.  They are immediately involved in each others lives and trying to separate themselves to fight the attraction.  You have to pick up the book to find out what happens in this fun story.  I hope that you check out this book and all the others in the series.  I know that you will enjoy it as much as I have!!
