The Bookshop on the Corner Book Review

Another reserve but this time by an author that I don't think that I have read and a book that I hadn't heard of but I found it in the new releases and I thought that I couldn't pass it up.  The Bookshop on the Corner: A Novel by Jenny Colgan was a new book that had a great description.  I couldn't wait to read it but it took forever and then I was reading all the other reserve books that I had and I had to return it just a few days after starting it.  I didn't get a lot of reading time so I was a little pressed for finishing it.

Nina Redmond is a librarian with a gift for finding the perfect book for her readers. But can she write her own happy-ever-after?  Nina Redmond is a literary matchmaker. Pairing a reader with that perfect book is her passion… and also her job. Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city. But now the job she loved is no more.  Determined to make a new life for herself, Nina moves to a sleepy village many miles away. There she buys a van and transforms it into a bookmobile—a mobile bookshop that she drives from neighborhood to neighborhood, changing one life after another with the power of storytelling.  From helping her grumpy landlord deliver a lamb, to sharing picnics with a charming train conductor who serenades her with poetry, Nina discovers there’s plenty of adventure, magic, and soul in a place that’s beginning to feel like home… a place where she just might be able to write her own happy ending.

I was interested in the book from the beginning because what is more fun then a bookstore!!  I thought that the description sounded interesting and it turned out to be even more fun when Nina lost her job...wait does that sound right?!  Yup, you heard me because her life was turned totally upside down and she was on the path to find her passion and biggest dreams come true.  She is giving up her normal life and moving to another country and starting her own business.  It is interesting to see how she makes up her new life and tries to make the connections to the old life that she once loved.  I am almost positive that I got another book by this author before but put it back because I just didn't get into it but I obviously keep picking up the same author because it sounds familiar.  The great news is I really enjoyed this book so maybe I will check out the other book soon.  I hope that you check out this book too!!
