I reserved a ton of books and What We Find by Robyn Carr was one of them. I know that I have loved everything that I have read of the author so when I saw this book listed in the books that the library ordered, I knew that I would enjoy getting on the list to read it. It appeared on my reserve shelf at the library totally unexpectedly when I was really busy with lots of other books but it went straight to the top of the pile.
Between the urban bustle of Denver and the high-stress environment of a
career in neurosurgery, Maggie Sullivan has hit a wall. When an
emergency high-risk procedure results in the death of a teenager, Maggie
finds herself in the middle of a lawsuit—and experiencing levels of
anxiety she's never faced before. She knows she needs to slow down
before she burns out completely, and the best place she can think to do
that is Sullivan's Crossing. Named for Maggie's
great-grandfather, the land and charming general store at the crossroads
of the Colorado and the Continental Divide Trails have been passed down
through the generations and now belong to Maggie's eccentric father,
Sully. When she shows up unannounced, he welcomes her with open arms,
and she relishes the opportunity to indulge in his simple way of life.
But
shortly after arriving, Maggie's world is rocked once again and she
must take on more responsibility than she'd planned. Though she's
relieved a quiet and serious-looking hiker, Cal Jones, is willing to
lend a hand, Maggie is suspicious of this mysterious man's eagerness to
help—until she finds out the true reason for his deliberate isolation. Though
Cal and Maggie each struggle with loss and loneliness, the time they
spend together gives Maggie hope for something brighter just on the
horizon…if only they can learn to find peace and healing—and perhaps
love—with each other.
I thought that this was another great book by Robyn Carr. It seems that it is a stand alone book but I would love if there were more in this series. Maggie was trying to find her footing after so many problems loosing her medical practice, her baby and then her boyfriend. She was emotional drained so she went to the place that she felt most at home, her father's camping area and store. Cal is staying there at the same time and also trying to rebuild his life. The two of them work together to make new lives for themselves to find the happiness that their previous lives were missing. I love watching the process to see how Maggie and Cal work to make their lives happy and fulfilled. I finished this with plenty of time to return the library, only to find another book on my reserve shelf that I got in while not paying attention. I am really in trouble and now I have to read a book quickly again before the deadline on Friday. Here is hoping that we have a lot of time between activities!! I hope that you check out this book if it looks interesting to you!! Add it to the wish list at the library but pay better attention to it then me :)
