A Season of Change Book Review

I signed up for way too many books to read at the same time and I knew that I better cut back because I couldn't keep them straight.  It was delivered but I forgot what it was about and I was in the middle of some library books that I wanted to finish before starting these.  I was super glad that I picked this book as one that I wanted to read this book because I couldn't put it down. A Season of Change: Seasons in Pinecraft | Book 1 by Lynette Sowell was the first in the series which was a second piece of good news because I will be checking these all out as they are written!!  I can't wait to hear what else is going to happen with these great characters.

The book starts with an Amish family in Florida enjoying a family vacation and getting ice cream at Christmas time which seems like something of a fantasy for them.  This is something that the Miller family never did in Ohio where they live for most of the year but were doing because they were visiting their family in Pinecraft, Florida.  Jacob Miller, the widowed father, and his two kids, Rebecca and Zeke are visiting their grandparents in Florida for a change of pace after his wife, their mother, passed away.  They have been living a very sad life and it seemed like a good idea for a change.  Jacob is very uncomfortable with the worldly ways the people in Florida act and is having a hard time relaxing.  After getting ice cream, Rebecca forgets her spoon and goes back to the ice cream shop.  She is hit by a car and seriously injured by a young driver who didn't see her.  In the hospital, they meet Bubbles the clown who turns out to be Natalie, who becomes a friend from the very beginning when she shows Rebecca how to juggle.  Natalie is drawn to the family and comes back to visit without the clown uniform to bring Rebecca juggling balls.  At the same time, Natalie learns that her mother used to be Amish but left her family when she joined the circus.  When Natalie comes to visit again, the family has left the hospital and she finds Rebecca's doll.  It is violation for the nurse to tell her where they live but the nurse suggests that she goes to the local Amish restaurant and they might be able to help.  Her journey to find out about her family begins with return the doll to the Amish family and becoming their friend.  Picking up the book will give you all of the adventures that they went through and enjoy the book as I did!!

I loved it!  I read it in two or three days and had a hard time putting it down because I wanted to find out what was going to happen next.  The author did a great job with the characters and you really felt all of the emotions that the characters were going through.  I think that I even cried at one point in the book and it wasn't horribly emotional but it just pulled at your heart strings.  My summary only includes the first three chapters of the book so there are still 26 more chapters to find out all of the interesting things that go on in this great book.  Meet all the other fun characters including Betsy, Rachel, Henry, and Imogene.  I don't want to give too much away but I hope that you pick it up at your local library or bookstore soon so that you can meet all these great characters in this wonderful Amish fiction book!!

*I was provided this book for my honest opinion through the Litfuse publishing group.  If you are interested in finding out about their program, check it out here.
