Shelter Mountain Book Review

Shelter Mountain (A Virgin River Novel) by Robyn Carr was the next in the Virgin River series.  I was excited when it came into the library so that I could follow the exciting saga where I left off last time.
In this book, Melinda, town doctor, and her husband, Jack were expecting their first child.  They have moved into Mel's cabin in the woods leaving John "Preacher," the cook.  Preacher is working one night at the bar and a woman comes in with her sleeping three year old.  She is looking for something to eat and somewhere to stay.  Preacher can tell she has been beaten and her son is sick.  He wanted to protect Paige and her son, Chris, even though they said that they were leaving after the first day.  He talked her into having Mel look them over and make sure that they were healthy before they leave town.  Then, he tells her to wait and travel during the day.  After many delays, Preacher grows very close to Paige and Chris, spending every day together.  The rest of the book is an amazing journey with everyone in the town providing amazing support for all of its members.
I recommend this author and this books series because it is very discriptive.  My husband always tells me that I am too empathetic and this would be one of those times.  I spent most of the time that I was reading it, crying.  It was a really moving book with lots of very tough parts.  I am sure that most people would be able to put themselves into the situation of some of the characters and the things that they are going through even if they haven't been through it themselves.  I hope that you decide to read some of this author's series because I have really enjoyed them.
