Getting Over It Book Review

Getting Over It by Anna Maxted was a book that I got a recommendation from a friend.  I picked it up off the shelf when I finished all of my library books.  I decided that I would read it without even looking at the back.  I quickly learned that it was set in England so it took me a little getting used to that the language was a little different.

Helen Bradshaw is working a magazine as an assistant while sharing an apartment with two male roommates and driving a beat up Toyota.  She is closest to her cat, Fatboy and her girlfriends who she thinks are perfect.  She gets in a car accident on the way to her father's funeral and meets Tom.  He drives her to her father's funeral and later she discovers that he is a friend of a friend and a vet.  Every day, she thinks that her life is horrible and everyone else is leading the good life.  She realizes that she makes choices based on her horrible mood that affect her life negatively.  Once she is happy to be alone, she ends up being happy.

If you liked Bridget Jones, you should check this book out at your local bookstore or library (or borrow it from me).  It was a fast and entertaining read even through it as a little over 400 pages.  I hope that you enjoy it if you pick it up :)
