Loving Jenna Book Review

I put a bunch of books on reserve from the library system and I was excited to get Loving Jenna (A Wells Landing Romance) by Amy Lillard on my reserve shelf.  I had read the others in the series and I was looking forward to the next installment.  Especially bitter sweet because the libraries are closed here so that everyone can have distancing.  I was glad for the few books that I got and I wish that I went in and grabbed a few more on my last day visiting because I knew that I wasn't going to be able to go back for awhile but I also had to hit the grocery stores and I didn't have a lot of time before picking up my son.

In this new novel set in the beloved Oklahoma Amish community of Wells Landing, three generations of women challenge themselves and each other to make a fresh start in faith, family—and love.  Jenna Burkhart is tired of being “special” and hearing about what she can't do. Even though she suffered a head injury in a childhood swimming accident, she wants a life of her own just like any Amish woman. But now that she, her mamm, and her mammi have moved to Wells Landing, she's having a hard time fitting in. . . . Until she meets Buddy Miller, a boy just like her, who gives her the confidence to reach for the impossible . . .

Like Jenna, Buddy is used to being the boy no one expects much from, the one people see as “different.” Still, being around Jenna’s lively, kind-hearted ways makes him strive ever-harder to become the self-sufficient Amish man she deserves. But in the face of family disapproval and their own fears, will Jenna and Buddy's courage be enough to give them a forever happiness together?

Jenna is new to the small town of Wells Landing and just moved there with her mother and grandmother.  Her mother keeps telling her that she is special and can't do things that the other kids do because she has brain damage.  She was involved in an accident when she was younger and she almost died.  Jenna wants to make the most with her life but she runs against her mother saying no at every turn.  Buddy has down syndrome and many people have been telling him that he was special all his life too.  He sees Jenna at church and he decided that he likes her.  They become friends but their parents keep getting in the way.  They make some decisions to try to be together and show that they are responsibility.  This comes with lots of bumps in the roads but you have to read to the book to find out what happens.  I hope that you check out this book and the others in the series and enjoy them as much as I have.  This is a super good value if you want to get it on Amazon or at your library if it is still open.  Good luck in this time of things being closed but a great opportunity to make a list of things you want to to do when the world gets back to normal.
